About Rita Burgos – Founder of AYO Ayurveda



Rita Burgos, AyD (Doctor of Ayurveda), Medical Ayurvedic Specialist, Clinical Ayurvedic Specialist and Panchakarma Specialist. She received her Ayurvedic training through the California College of Ayurveda.
She is a Board-certified Advanced Ayurvedic Practitioner through the National Association of Ayurvedic Medicine. She is also certified as an Energy Healing Therapist and Body/Mind Counselor through the Lionheart Institute.

With her Ayurvedic clients, she integrates lifestyle/health counseling, individualized herbal formulations, Ayurvedic body therapies, Panchakarma, Yoga Nidra and other meditation/stress reduction practices.
​
She integrates her prior work in the fields of trauma recovery and somatic counseling. In addition to training in Ayurvedic body therapies, she also received additional certification in massage through IPSB (Institute for Psychostructural Balancing).
​
Her years of training in these complementary modalities have helped her to create a safe place for clients to heal from physical challenges and emotional trauma. With more than twenty years of experience in the healing arts, she holds space for clients, deeply listening to their needs to offer appropriate, individualized solutions.

She is also a Yoga Nidra Representative , training new instructors through the California College of Ayurveda. In addition to leading yoga nidra classes in southern California and online, she leads Yoga Nidra Teacher Trainings, guiding and certifying new instructors to bring yoga nidra to their communities.

She has been a meditator in the Raja Yoga tradition for more than 25 years. Her work is influenced by years of work in community organizing, civil rights and environmental justice - a reminder for her that the well-being of individuals is intimately connected to the healing of our communities.
She has worked as an executive coach for various non-profits, businesses and government agencies, such as the Department of Health Services in Los Angeles, where she has supported senior leadership to implement trauma-informed changes related to equity and inclusion at all levels of the public health system.

Rita and the Ayo Ayurveda team work with clients to support healing emotional and nervous system challenges (addiction, anxiety, anger management, depression, ADHD), digestive distress, and other chronic challenges such as autoimmune disorders, diabetes, thyroid conditions, and cancer.
